3Deus Dynamics closes €10 million fund-raising round and aims for world leadership in silicone 3D printing

The Deeptech startup 3Deus Dynamics specializes in additive manufacturing of flexible materials using its innovative Dynamic Molding process.

This fundraising marks a significant milestone in the company’s development, supported by renowned investors such as Elkem and the European Innovation Council (EICF), with the European Investment Bank (EIB) acting as an advisor, and banking partner.

Elkem, a longstanding investor, reaffirms its confidence in 3Deus Dynamics’ Dynamic Molding process. Thanks to the EIC Accelerator, the EICF positions the company as a strategic European player, awarding it the prestigious innovation trophy at the end of 2022.

The fundraising aims to achieve four major objectives:

  • Expanding 3Deus Dynamics’ global commercial presence in the field of 3D silicone printing.
  • Strengthening the industrialization of its Dynamic Molding technology at its new site in Rillieux-la-Pape, France.
  • The intensification of the company’s R&D activities to broaden the range of materials usable in Dynamic Molding.
  • Integrate the quality standards required by the health markets and highly specialized industrial markets such as aerospace and defense, while pursuing a decarbonization strategy for products derived from Dynamic Molding.

3Deus Dynamics is already recognized in the healthcare market for its customized anatomical models and medical devices, and in the aeronautics, aerospace, and defense markets, where its innovative silicone composites offer unique functionalities in terms of thermal resistance, electromagnetic protection, electrical conductivity, and mechanical reinforcement.

“We are proud of the shared confidence of Elkem and the European Innovation Council in our vision and development strategy; we are committed to pushing back the boundaries of silicone 3D printing,” says Julien Barthès, CEO and founder of 3Deus Dynamics. “This fundraising marks another step in our journey towards global leadership. Our partnership with Elkem will accelerate our international presence and consolidate our leading position in the industry. Europe’s support strengthens our commercial credibility by opening up new international development opportunities.”

“The support of the EICF for 3Deus Dynamics underscores our commitment to fostering high-potential disruptive technologies. We are excited to see how their revolutionary Dynamic Molding technology will contribute to shaping the future of the 3D printing industry, particularly in the medical sector,” said Svetoslava Georgieva, Chair of the EIC Fund Board.

By the end of 2024, 3Deus Dynamics will create a hub of excellence dedicated to silicone 3D printing.

About 3Deus Dynamics

Founded in October 2020, 3Deus Dynamics is expanding the frontiers of 3D printing with its Dynamic Molding process, a multi-patented “zero-gravity” Freeform method that uses a granular medium as a dynamic mold to support materials during printing.

This is the most environmentally friendly and least material-consuming 3D printing process. It was developed by researchers Dr. Edwin-Joffrey Courtial and Dr. Christophe Marquette from the ICBMS (3d.FAB platform, CNRS/Université Claude Bernard Lyon1/Insa Lyon/CPE Lyon) and has received funding from PULSALYS and Elkem for a technology development program and incubation support.

It allows for the printing of various viscoelastic materials — thermoplastics, elastomers, ceramics — without limiting their properties, offering unprecedented freedom in creating complex 3D structures.

Since its inception, 3Deus Dynamics has received numerous regional and national supports, being a winner of the i-Lab innovation contest (2021), the R&D Booster call for projects from the AURA region (2022), and the prestigious EIC Accelerator (2022) and ANR (2023). The company received financial support from Elkem Silicone, 33 Californie, Gilles Grenier (Partenergil) during an initial seed fundraising round in 2021. www.3deusdynamics.com

About EICF

The European Innovation Council Fund from the European Commission is agnostic: it invests across all technologies and verticals, and all EU countries and countries associated with Horizon Europe. It provides the investment component of the EIC Accelerator blended finance.

The EIC Fund aims to fill a critical financing gap and its main purpose is to support companies in the development and commercialization of disruptive technologies, bridging with and crowding in market players, and further sharing risk by building a large network of capital providers and strategic partners suitable for co-investments and follow-on funding.

The Fund pays particular attention to the empowerment and support of female founders as well as the ambition to reduce the innovation divide among EU countries. https://eic.ec.europa.eu/eic-fund_en
